How to scan from Canon MG3520

The first step is easy. Turn on the computer and the printer. The printer / scanner combo comes with scanner software called the IJ Scan Utility. Please install this application before proceeding any further.

To get started after installation, go to Applications,

Double-click the folder named "Canon Utilities" and click the IJ Scan Utility folder.
Click the "Canon IJ Scan Utility2" icon. 

Right-click the icon and select "Create Shortcut" to create a shortcut icon for your desktop so you can easily access the program.

Now that you have run the application, several options are available in the Canon IJ Scan Utility 2 window.

If you want to scan instantly at the default level settings, click "Auto." If you want to scan some photos, select "Photos" and you need advanced settings for your photos.

When "Document" is selected, the setting that automatically increases the readability of the font is automatically selected. Click "Custom" to manually select and adjust all settings as needed for your project.

You need to place something correctly on the scanning surface before scanning.

If you have a small item such as a business card, photo, driver's license, DVD, or postcard, place it right in the middle of the scan surface (also known as platen).

The item should face down so the machine can scan the correct side. For larger items such as documents, newspapers, or magazines, place the items face down. Move until the upper left corner completely coincides with the upper left corner of the platen. There is an alignment mark to guide you.

Without the right resolution, the image is too blurry on your website, or there is too much data to send an email.

With the Canon MG3520, you can set the resolution for various projects. For example, for color photos, a resolution of 300 dpi is required. Black and white photos that you want to attach to emails work well with grayscale at a lower resolution of 150 dpi.

If you are not planning to attach it to an e-mail, use 300 dpi for the standard document, which saves space at 150 dpi.

With the items in place, close the cover of the scanner and press the scan button on the printer itself, or click the button in the IJ scanning application.

Within a few seconds, scanned images appear as files on your computer screen, allowing you to save and edit them. By default, the scanner saves the file in the "Pictures" folder, but sends the file to another destination if necessary.

When you use photos on your website, .png is displayed in order, whereas standard .jpg is good for images from digital cameras.
