Set Up Canon PIXMA MG2920  Inkjet PRINT/SELPHY with Android

You can also use it to check the model number of the printer ink and other information.

Prepare The Application Settings

If you have a wireless router, connect your Smartphone or tablet to the wireless router, but if you don't have a wireless router then turn on Wi-Fi Wi-Fi settings screen on a smartphone or tablet.


After you install the application, follow the steps below to register the printer.

Follow these steps

Make sure the printer is turned on. touch the screen to begin your application, please note that the license Screen, usually appearing on the initial startup.
After the registration is completed, the printer immediately back to the main screen. then look on the top left of the screen, then press the Register printer

Detection of the printer starts. When the detection of the printer has finished, please press your printer name that pops up on the screen, and then press OK. Maybe change the name of the printer will apply

When the printer is registered are added to the Printer listed, setup is complete. Please return to the main screen by using the "back" button on your tablet or smartphone options.
After the preparation of the connection is completed on the printer screen, return to the application and press Auto Connect.  
In Auto Connect, the setup is done by allowing the application to automatically determine the preferred method of connecting your device, connect through a wireless router or a Direct Connection.

Restrictions

When connecting another device at the same time a device (such as a smartphone) is already connected to the printer, connect with the same connection as the connected device method.
If you connect using a connection method, the connection will be disabled with the device in use.

Connection using a network cable is not possible on printers that do not support a connection cable.


Connection using an access point

  • Make sure that access and a point (or wireless network router) device are connected. For information about how to check the configuration, refer to the manual supplied with the access point or contact its manufacturer.
  • In terms of a device already connected to the printer without using an access point, then reconnect through an access point.
  • Configuration, functions of router, installation and configuration of the network device security procedures varies according to the environment of the system. For more information, refer to your network device manual or contact its manufacturer.
  • Check if your device is compatible with IEEE802.11n (2.4 GHz), IEEE802.11g and IEEE802.11b.
  • If your device is set to "Only IEEE802.11n" mode, WEP or TKIP not can be used as a security protocol. Change the security protocol for your device to something which is not WEP and TKIP or change the settings to something other than "IEEE802.11n."
  • The connection between the device and the access point will be disabled temporarily while the setting is changed. Do not use this guide screen until the installation is complete.
  • For office use, consult your network administrator.
  • Take extra care when connected to a network that is not protected with security measures, since there is a risk of disclosing information as your personal information to third parties.

Connection without using an access point
Important

If you connect a device connected to the Internet through an access point to the printer that is in access point mode, the connection between the device and the access point will be disabled. In that case, you can change the connection of the device to a mobile data connection automatically depending on your device. When connected to the Internet through a mobile data connection, charges may apply depending on your contract.
When connecting a device and the printer in access point mode, the connection information will be saved to Wi-Fi settings. The device can connect to the printer automatically, even after you disconnect it or connect to another access point.


  • You can connect to an access point and the printer that is in mode of access at the same time point. If you have an access point, it is recommended that you use the access point to connect to the printer.
  • To prevent automatic connection to the printer that is in access point mode, change the connection mode after using the printer, or set not to automatically connect wireless device configuration.
  • For more information about how to change the settings for a device, refer to the manual supplied with the device or contact the manufacturer.
  • When you connect a device and the printer in access point mode, Internet connection might be unavailable. In that case, you cannot use web services for the printer.
  • Mode access point, can connect up to five devices at the same time. If you try to connect a sixth device while five devices already connected, an error appears.
  • If an error, disconnect a device that uses the printer, then configure again.
  • Devices connected to the printer in access point mode cannot communicate with each other.
  • Firmware updates for the printer are not available when using access point mode.
  • When a device is connected to the printer without using an access point and you want to configure it again using the same method of connection, disconnect first. Disable the connection between the device and the printer Wi-Fi settings screen.

A wired network connection

This printer may not be wired and wireless connections at the same time.
When you use a router, connect the printer and a device to the side of the LAN (same network segment)
